No Child Left Deprived

Watch No Child Left Deprived by Mark Manalo

A 5th Grade Class sends a message that CREATIVITY is just as important as LITERACY. Jaden, a young, inner-city public school student, takes a stand against his principal after the school's art teacher has been fired for choosing to teach art instead of the state-mandated, standardized test. "No Child Left Deprived" is a short film made in the first "Media for Social Change" class taught by Jeremy Kagan and USCMISC founder, Michael Taylor.

Produced, Written and Directed by Mark D. Manalo

“It's based on my experiences as an elementary school teacher in the South Bronx back in the day and what I saw happening to the arts programs because of the government-mandated standardized tests.” - Manalo
